Richard Green and Mike Kyle are taking their Had to Be Made film fest nationwide.
Duo said this week they are expanding the fest by distribbing lineup on DVD nationally through retail chains. Auds will then be able to vote on the fest’s finalists. Pics also will be screened theatrically at the third annual Los Angeles event, which encompasses six features and 18 shorts.
Fest programs only pics that do not have distribution in place.
Entry deadline is April 30. Pics are screened by industry pros to make the cut. Filmmakers accepted into the fest receive a share of any revenues their pics make during its Had to Be run. Winning film receives additional prize money.
Fest is skedded to kick off in September and run for six weeks, with one feature screening each week, along with shorts.
Viewers who vote online for their favorite films become eligible to win prizes themselves.
After the fest’s run, pics will be collected as a box set with extras including celebrity commentary.
