‘Extra!’ base hit for pair

D'Works buys up Florsheim, Stolberg script

DreamWorks has preemptively bought the pitch “Extra! Extra!” by scribes Bobby Florsheim and Josh Stolberg (“The Passion of the Ark”) for Robert Kosberg to produce.

Story is being kept under tight wraps but is described as an ambitious romantic comedy.

Meredith Bagby will oversee the project at DreamWorks.

Kosberg hatched the idea and then brought it to Florsheim and Stolberg, who fleshed it out into a pitch.

The writing team has been a hot commodity in Hollywood since they sold their spec to Sony last year for $1.5 million against $2.5 million. Team recently sold their comedy pitch “Man-Witch” to Warner Bros. for $750,000 against $1.5 million for Neal Moritz to produce.

Kosberg is based at Nash Entertainment, though “Extra!” will not be produced through the TV and feature film production shingle. Kosberg is a producer on Ben Stiller comedy “The Hardy Men,” in development at Fox, and was an exec producer on Universal’s time travel thriller “12 Monkeys.”
