Dylan biopic seeks o’seas dates

Haynes film seeking domestic distrib'n

Hengameh Panahi’s Celluloid Dreams sales banner has come aboard to handle overseas rights on helmer Todd Haynes’ “I’m Not There,” an unconventional film bio of Bob Dylan.

Deal was sealed here in three days of marathon negotiations between Celluloid, Cinetic Media and CAA.

Project will now seek domestic distribution. It was previously being developed at Paramount last year, but fell off the studio’s slate following its recent regime shift.

Killer’s Christine Vachon will produce with longtime Dylan biz manager Jeff Rosen.

John Wells and John Goldwyn are exec producing.

Filmmakers are planning a fall start.

High profile cast attached includes Cate Blanchett, Colin Farrell, Adrien Brody, Richard Gere, Julianne Moore and Charlotte Gainsbourg.

As envisioned by Haynes, pic follows seven characters, each embodying a different aspect of Dylan’s life story and music. Pic is the first biographical feature project to secure the approval of the pop culture icon.

Haynes’ credits include the glam rock pic “Velvet Goldmine,” and Moore-starrers “Safe” and “Far From Heaven.”

Earlier in the fest, Celluloid inked another deal to handle international sales on a feature-length claymation adaptation of cult 1960s comic series “The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers.”
