Duo teams for pair of thrillers

Hall will helm 'Hail' next year; 'Survivor' shooting in fall

Camelot Entertainment Group and South Africa’s Elemental Pictures have made a co-production and distribution deal for “Hail to the Thief” and “The First Rule of Survival.”

“Hail to the Thief” is a $10 million action thriller written and to be directed by tyro helmer Gareth Hall. Pic will shoot in Cape Town next year.

“The First Rule of Survival” is a horror thriller with a budget of just under $1 million that will shoot in September. Story concerns five students stranded in the desert with a military assassin, two genetically modified dogs and a pickaxe. Matthew Kalil wrote the script and will make his directing bow.

Producers for both projects are H. Kaye Dyal, who heads Camelot Features, and Elemental Pictures partners Benjamin Thomas Cowley and Andrew Robertson. Robert Atwell is the executive producer.

Camelot will provide 60% of the financing, with Elemental providing the balance. Chris Davis handles international sales. Camelot Distribution Group will distribute the films domestically in the U.S.
