Michael Chiklis is set to join Lucy Liu in “Rise,” the Sebastian Gutierrez-directed horror thriller that will shoot next month.
Ghost House Pictures, a partnership between Mandate Pictures, Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, is mounting the project.
Chiklis, who stars in FX series “The Shield,” took “Rise” for his hiatus film. He’ll play a haunted police detective whose daughter was killed by a strange cult.
Greg Shapiro of Kingsgate Films and Carsten Lorenz are producing for Ghost House.
Ghost House partner Mandate has pre-sold to Universal distribution rights in the U.K., France and Latin America and brokered Germany to Falcom Media, Italy to Eagle Pictures and Spain to Aurum. U.S. rights haven’t yet been sold, but the film is financed.
“Casting Michael to star alongside Lucy only heightens the excitement we already felt for this project,” said Mandate production head Nathan Kahane.
Chiklis will next star as Ben Grimm/the Thing in the Tim Story-directed Marvel Comics adaptation of “Fantastic Four,” which 20th Century Fox releases on July 8.
