New Line is in negotiations with Jordana Brewster to star in its upcoming “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” prequel.
Brewster was last seen in low-budget comedy “D.E.B.S.” and the original “Fast and the Furious.” She’s also in Disney’s upcoming “Annapolis.”
Untitled prequel will once again follow a group of kids who encounter a chainsaw-wielding killer. It will also tell the story of Leatherface’s origin.
Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller are set to produce though their Platinum Dunes shingle along with Mike Fleiss. Horror vet Jonathan Liebesman is directing from a script by Sheldon Turner rewritten by David Schow.
Budgeted at just $9 million, the 2003 “Chainsaw” remake made $80 million. Shooting is set to start in September.
Guy Stodel and Mark Ordesky are overseeing for the studio.
