Alec Baldwin has been cast as the male lead opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar in Odd Lot Entertainment’s “The Girls’ Guide to Hunting and Fishing,” which writer-director Marc Klein adapted from two short stories in Melissa Bank’s best-selling book of the same name.
Announcement came during the second day of the American Film Market in Santa Monica, where Media 8 Entertainment is pre-selling “Girls’ Guide” internationally.
Film is about a New York book editor who wrestles with leaving her annoying college boyfriend for a notorious, much older playboy (Baldwin). Odd Lot’s Gigi Pritzker and Deborah Del Prete are producing with Darryl Taja.
Baldwin, who most recently appeared in Cameron Crowe’s “Elizabethtown,” stars in Dean Parisot’s upcoming “Fun With Dick and Jane” and Martin Scorsese’s upcoming “The Departed.”
Per the terms of a recent distribution deal, Media 8 is handling international sales for five Odd Lot features at AFM, including “Guide.”
Other projects in various stages of production at Odd Lot (“Green Street Hooligans”) include “Trap for Cinderella” and “The Veil.”
Media 8, a production, financing and sales company, is producing the upcoming “Running Scared,” which will be released by New Line Cinema in January. Other upcoming Media 8 films include “Lovewrecked” and “Man About Town” starring Ben Affleck and Rebecca Romijn.
