Dustin Hoffman has signed on to round out the cast of the Mandate Pictures comedy “Stranger Than Fiction,” which stars Will Ferrell, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Emma Thompson and Queen Latifah.
“Fiction,” written by Zach Helm and directed by Marc Forster, centers on a IRS auditor (Ferrell) who finds himself hearing a narrator only he can detect. The voiceover tells him events are in motion that will lead to his death; Hoffman’s professor character helps the auditor in his attempts to find the narrator and change the story.
Hoffman, now seen in “Meet the Fockers,” worked with Forster in “Finding Neverland.” He’ll be seen next as Meyer Lansky in Lions Gate’s “The Lost City.”
Lensing on “Fiction” is set to begin in April, with Lindsay Doran producing via her Three Strange Angels banner.
The film was put together by Nathan Kahane, the production president of Mandate, which was formerly known as Senator Intl. Mandate owns all distribution rights on the film.
