Poland: Treaties make region attractive for pix

PRODUCTION INCENTIVES:

Parliament recently passed a film law establishing the Institute of Film Art, with an annual fund of S24 million ($29 million) for preparation, production and promotion of new films.

Poland also offers a VAT rebate of up to 22%. It is also a signatory of the European Convention on Cinematic Co-production, making British and European co-productions eligible for sale-and-lease-back funding. European co-productions also can apply for Media Desk funds. The government indicated its interest in providing incentives to low-budget U.S. films, although no official structure is in place.
