NEW YORK — Lions Gate Films has inked a deal to acquire feature rights to a spate of graphic novel titles by Steve Niles. Pics will serve as starring vehicles for thesp Thomas Jane, who previously starred in Lions Gate’s “The Punisher.”

First pics to be produced under the deal will include adaptations of Niles’ “The Lurkers” and “In the Blood.”

Jane will star in both pics, as well as produce them with Niles.

Niles has said he and Jane are launching a banner, called Raw Entertainment, to create comics and genre film fare. Niles has already partnered with rocker-helmer Rob Zombie, who created Lions Gate’s “House of 1000 Corpses,” in Creep Entertainment.

Jane and Niles’ company will also have a first-look deal with Lions Gate to produce other projects that Niles creates or that they bring to the mini-major.

‘Bad’ project

Niles and Jane will also unveil an additional Raw project, at the upcoming Comic-Con confab in San Diego: Duo is creating a comic series called “Bad Planet” for Raw and Image Comics to publish.

Block, Michael Paseornek, Jason Constantine and Alex Franklin will oversee the first three Niles adaptations for Lions Gate.
