The Directors Guild of America has tapped Herb Adelman and Stanley M. Faer for special DGA Awards recognizing contributions to the guild, the craft of filmmaking and the entertainment industry at large.
Adelman will receive the Frank Capra Award, given to an assistant director or unit production manager, and Faer will receive the Franklin J. Schaffner Award, given to an associate director or stage manager. Both awards will be presented at the 57th annual DGA Awards dinner Saturday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Adelman’s credits include “The Swarm,” “The Frisco Kid,” “Battlestar Galactica,” “Hill Street Blues,” “Hoosiers,” “Chicago Hope,” “Diagnosis: Murder,” “Space: Above and Beyond,” “Nothing Sacred” and “The Pretender.” He’s now unit production manager and co-producer of “Joan of Arcadia.”
Faer has worked on more than 1,000 CBS sporting event broadcasts ranging from collegiate and professional football and basketball to golf, tennis, horse racing and the Olympics. In 1980, he won an Emmy for his coordination and highlight editing of NFL games. Faer also had his own production company, Faerweather Prods.
