Biopix GLAAD to be nominated

'Kinsey,' 'Home,' 'Alexander' to be honored

“Kinsey” and “Alexander” are among 141 nominees in 37 categories for the 16th annual Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation Media Awards, which honor “fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives.”

The biopics join “Monster,” “A Home at the End of the World” and “Saved!” in the wide-release film category.

The limited-release category features “Bad Education,” “Brother to Brother,” “Bear Cub,” “Blue Gate Crossing” and “The Mudge Boy.”

Drama series nominees are UPN’s “Kevin Hill,” Showtime’s “The L Word” and “Queer as Folk” and HBO’s “The Wire” and “Six Feet Under.” NBC’s “Will & Grace” is the only series nommed in the comedy category.

Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” will receive special recognition for its “smart, incisive, devastatingly funny coverage of gay and lesbian civil rights issues, and its hilarious skewering of the religious right’s anti-gay agenda.”
