Wolverine on a world tour

Marvel toons Indians on 'X-Men'

Marvel Entertainment has pacted with Indian animation company First Serve Toonz to produce an animated “X-Men” skein centered on the character of Wolverine.

Marvel Studios chair-CEO Avi Arad and FST chief exec Ed Borgerding will announce the project today, during this year’s Mipcom TV mart.

Companies are set to produce 26 episodes, which will be available for distribution in 2007. The third “X-Men” feature from 20th Century Fox is slated for a spring debut.

Announcement follows last year’s news that Marvel and French animator Antefilms Prods. had partnered on a “Fantastic Four” toon available next fall (Daily Variety, Oct. 6, 2004).

Marvel will oversee domestic distribution; FST will handle international and DVD sales.
