Gameshow net warming up to ‘Arctic Station’

Toon skein to be produced by Sony Pictures TV

GSN and feature producer John Jacobs (“Anger Management”) are heading to the “Arctic Station.”

Producer has set up the animated pilot presentation at the cabler, with Sony Pictures TV to produce.

Skein revolves around a military officer who, as punishment, is sent to a desolate station in the north where his only friend is a 7-foot-tall yeti. Pair watch TV endlessly via a satellite that picks up nothing but old gameshows.

Jacobs described the project as a cross between “Mystery Science Theater 3000” and “Beavis & Butt-Head.”

GSN programming chief “Ian Valentine and I have wanted to collaborate for years, and GSN is looking to break into the college crowd with shows more in the tone of ‘Family Guy’ and ‘Beavis & Butt-Head,’ ” Jacobs said. He manages ‘Family Guy’ creator Seth MacFarlane. “The pilot script is very funny and, should it move forward, could be the perfect way for them to get noticed by that audience.”

Jacobs will exec produce via his Smart Entertainment shingle. Smart’s Colin O’Reilly also will exec produce. Michael Davidoff (“Working”) will serve as showrunner and pen the project with Joe Aucoin (“K Thru 12”).

Sony’s Zach Van Amburg and John Westphal will oversee with GSN’s Valentine and Michael Bevan.

Jacobs recently produced Fox Searchlight’s “The Ringer,” starring Johnny Knoxville. His upcoming feature projects include “No Pain No Gain” at Warner Bros., “Blades of Glory” at DreamWorks and “Man Scout” at New Line Cinema.
