CANNES — E! Networks, the exclusive worldwide distributor for G4’s catalog of videogame-themed shows, took the wraps off several licensing deals Sunday for Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, the U.K. and Spain.
“Since E! Networks first became the official worldwide distributor for G4’s catalog in 2004, the interest in video game-themed programming has really taken off abroad,” said E! sales exec Hud Woodle.
Measat has acquired 194 hours of G4 titles including “Attack of the Show!” “X-Play” and “Filter” to air on its TVP and TVIQ channels, reaching viewers in Brunei, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Spain’s Media Park licensed 26 hours of “Cinematech” for its Buzz channel.
Hong Kong’s TVB has picked up broadcast rights for “Formula D” to air on Pearl Channel.
Flextech in the U.K. has licensed “Formula D” to air on its basic cable channel Challenge.
G4, also known as videogame tv, launched in April 2002 and is now available in 53 million homes in the U.S.
