In a first of its kind promotion, Clear Channel Music Group is partnering with AOL Music and the Backstreet Boys to offer a four-for-two ticket purchasing arrangement.
Fans who buy two seated tickets to the Backstreet Boys summer tour between Friday and June 24 will get two free lawn or mezzanine seats to the same show. General tickets for the tour go on sale June 17, at which time the ticket offer will be available exclusively on aolcityguide.com. Promotion covers 22 of the band’s 27 booked dates.
To bring the package together, Clear Channel provides a media buy to AOL, which supplements the media buy with additional promotion. The Backstreet Boys, in turn, offer a flexibility in their price to allow the giveaways.
“At this point in their career, they made a conscious decision they wanted to come up with a promotion to reward fans,” said Faisel Durrani, exec VP of marketing for Clear Channel Music Group. “Every act goes through different cycles, and we have to be flexible in understanding where they are. This is right for Backstreet Boys.”
The Backstreet Boys open their tour June 22 in West Palm Beach, Fla., and will stop Aug. 25 at the Verizon Amphitheater in Irvine. “Never Gone,” act’s first studio album in almost five years, will be released Tuesday.
The band reunited late last year and performed at 10 clubs in March and April. In the four years since the cancellation of a summer tour, the band members have been active in side projects including solo discs, Broadway runs and film.
