NEW YORK — Penelope Spheeris, David Carradine and Dave Foley have come aboard as hosts of the Had to Be Made Film Festival, created by Mike Kyle and Richard Green.
Fest — in its third year — will kick off in September and run for six weeks. Three additional celeb hosts are yet to be named.
Kyle and Green said earlier this year that they are expanding the fest by distribbing the Had to Be lineup on DVD nationally through retail chains. Viewers will be able to vote on the fest’s finalists online.
Pics also will be screened theatrically at the Los Angeles event, which will unspool six features and 18 shorts.
Fest programs only pics that do not have distribution in place, and lineup is selected by industry pros.
After the fest wraps, pics will be collected as a box set with extras including celebrity commentary.
