Beefing up its TV, film and DVD operations, National Geographic Ventures has promoted William Weil to exec VP of strategy, marketing and programming, and elevated Patricia Najda to VP of domestic home entertainment.
Edward Prince, CEO of National Geographic Ventures, said Weil and Najda will explore “new opportunities in the digital marketplace.” Video-on-demand and high-definition television are likely to play a prominent role in the future of the operation as many National Geographic TV specials lend themselves to these platforms.
Weil was senior VP of marketing and business development for National Geographic TV & Film, a division of National Geo Ventures. Earlier in his career, he was an executive with AmericanGreetings.com, Nickelodeon Networks and Walt Disney Home Video.
Previously director of marketing, Najda will head sales, product development, marketing and operations for National Geographic’s North American homevid business. Before joining National Geographic in 2001, Najda was an executive with the National Wildlife Federation.
The Ventures division encompasses not only NGT&F but National Geographic Digital Media and National Geographic Maps.
