MediaCorp CEO to ankle Sept. 30

Wong headed up co.'s negotiating team for merger

SINGAPORE — After five years as MediaCorp CEO, Ernest Wong will leave the company Sept. 30.

A former banker, Wong joined MediaCorp amid economic recession and at the onset of media competition. MediaCorp’s foray into print media with newspaper Today was met by Singapore Press Holdings’ formation of TV network MediaWorks.

Competition, however, proved costly and unsustainable, with the media rivals merging operations Jan. 1; Wong headed up MediaCorp’s negotiation team.
