HONG KONG — Sony Pictures Entertainment’s AXN and Animax channels have added 29 staffers to their roster in Asia.
Most will be based in Singapore, with a few in Taiwan. New hires range from audio engineers and producers to executive assistants and senior marketing executives.
Victor Cheng was named account director overseeing advertising sales in Hong Kong. He hails from CNBC Intl./Asia Business News and was also head of business development for Microsoft’s MSN. He reports to Ricky Ow, VP of ad sales and programming.
At Animax Asia, Anna Teo was hired as programming manager, reporting to Betty Tsui, VP of Animax programming and production.
Most of the jobs are new positions, said Dinesh Subramaniam, marketing communications manager for AXN Asia, pointing to the channels’ growth.
Action-adventure web AXN Asia reaches more than 31 million households. Animax launched in January as the region’s first 24-hour Japanese anime channel.
