RTL topper to no longer wear 2nd hat

Conrad takes over at German web

COLOGNE — RTL Group chief exec Gerhard Zeiler will ankle his second role as managing director of RTL TV, to be succeeded by Marc Conrad on Nov. 1.

“I took over as CEO of RTL Group last year, and it was clear I could not combine it with the managing director’s role of RTL TV in the long run,” Zeiler said. He has headed RTL TV since 1998 and will remain chairman of its supervisory board.

Conrad is not new to RTL; he was the web’s programming director with founder Helmut Thoma during most of the ’90s.

“With his knowledge of RTL and Germany’s film and TV industry, he is the best candidate to lead RTL TV,” Zeiler said.

Zeiler’s deputy Hans Mahr, head of information programming and editor-in-chief, will also leave the web.
