Antonio Banderas (HBO’s “And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself”), Ossie Davis and Forest Whitaker (Showtime’s “Deacons for Defense”), Blair Underwood (HBO’s “Sex and the City”) and Dave Chappelle (Comedy Central’s “The Dave Chappelle Show”) are among the nominees in the performance categories for the 10th annual Namic Vision Awards.

Presented by the National Assn. for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications, kudofest honors cable TV entities that have demonstrated a commitment to producing quality original programming content that’s multi-ethnic and cross-cultural.

Ceremony will be held at the Beverly Hilton on April 16.

Showtime Networks leads the 16 cablers with eight noms. HBO and Disney Channel each received six. Also garnering multiple noms were BET and Zee TV with five each, MTV and Nickelodeon with three apiece and VH1, Video Rola and ESPN with two each.

Programming award categories include comedy, drama, music and variety, news and information, children’s programming, docs and foreign language.

California Cable Television Assn. prexy and general counsel Spencer Kaitz and founding director of the Walter Kaitz Foundation will receive the 2004 Quasar Award, presented to individuals in the telecommunications industry who have worked to advance the cause of diversity.

Disney Channel will receive the North Star Award, given to an individual or organization that has demonstrated exceptional efforts coupled with a long-term commitment to develop programming that reflects ethnic and cultural diversity.

The Legacy Award will be presented to producer Suzanne de Passe. Kudos pay homage to a trailblazing individual or body of work that has made an indelible impact on the diversity landscape.
