SYDNEY — Scottish film and TV producer Scott Meek is moving to Oz as head of drama for pubcaster ABC-TV.
Meek, who starts in October, is joint chief exec of Deep Indigo Prods. and has co-produced more than 26 hours with Oz producers including “Fields of Fire,” “Harbour Beat” and “Shadow of the Cobra.”
He spent 14 years with British indie Zenith Prods, where his credits include the pics “Sid and Nancy,” “Prick Up Your Ears” and “Velvet Goldmine.”
“My experience of working with Australian writers, directors, producers and actors has always been really creative and exciting,” said Meek. “To continue it for the ABC — and its audience — is a huge responsibility and a genuine challenge.”
In other exec appointments at the pubcaster, Stuart Menzies, a director of December Films, was named head of documentaries. Denise Eriksen, London-based head of content and deputy channel controller on Sky Digital’s Community Channel, was tapped as head of general factual, and Sonya Pemberton, exec producer of ABC-TV’s Science Unit, was upped to head of specialist factual .
