LONDON — Paramount Comedy and Nickelodeon will make their Italian TV debuts with the launch of two thematic channels on the Rupert Murdoch-backed Sky Italia paybox.
The two Italian-lingo services will air to Sky’s Italia subscribers as part of the family entertainment basic tier. The ad-supported services expand MTV Networks’ portfolio of brands in Italy. These include terrestrial channel MTV Italia.
The Nickelodeon Italia sked will include “The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius,” “The Wild Thornberrys” and “Rugrats” plus dedicated programming for Italian kids.
In common with its sister channels in Spain and the U.K., Paramount Comedy will be tailored for the local market. It will feature a mix of original Italian and international comedy shows and movies.
Day-to-day operations and local production for Nickelodeon Italia and Paramount Comedy Italia will be based at the Milan studios of MTV Italia.
