HOLLYWOOD — E! will take the plunge into royal reality TV with “Love Is in the Heir,” about a rebellious princess looking for love and lucre in L.A.
New series will follow 31-year-old Princess Ann Claire of Iran’s Pahlavi dynasty, who has left her pampered London lifestyle to pursue her dreams of becoming a country music star.
Already living in L.A., princess has a December deadline to land a record deal and a suitor who meets the approval of her father, Prince Shahboz Pahlbod. If not, she’ll be forced to move back home or else the royal purse strings will be cut.
“It’s a reverse rags-to-riches story,” said Lisa Berger, E!’s senior VP of programming development. “It’s really so relatable on so many levels. That’s what we like about it. Proving yourself to your parents is always such a great theme.”
Series will focus on Ann Claire’s Hollywood travails but will also include family footage from London, to be lensed by E!’s international division.
Ten-part, half-hour skein is in production and will premiere Sunday, Nov. 28.
