Sky One, the flagship entertainment channel of satcaster BSkyB, has appointed Jamie Roberts to scout for new program ideas in Los Angeles.
Roberts has been named as head of production and development for U.S. non-scripted programming, based in Sky’s L.A. office.
His job will be to identify “quick turnaround programs and major new formats,” and to develop co-production opportunities with U.S. broadcasters.
For the past year, Roberts has been working as a commissioning exec at Sky in London, where he was most recently responsible for the sports reality show “The Match.”
In his new post he will continue to report to Sky One controller James Baker and director of original programs Jo Wallace.
“This new role underlines our ambition to unearth the best and most innovative programming from around the world,” Baker said. “Jamie’s broad knowledge of entertainment and creative zeal will be an invaluable tool in our drive to deliver the most exciting new programs to the channel.
