Belgium gets ‘Makeover’

Disney-SBS pact is format's first int'l sale

BRUSSELS — Mouse House foreign TV distrib arm Buena Vista Intl. TV has licensed the “Extreme Makeover” format to Belgian commercial broadcaster VT4, the format’s first international sale.

Deal was unveiled by Tom Toumazis, senior veep and managing director for BVITV in the region, and Ricus Jansegers, program director at VT4/SBS Belgium.

Maria Bayman, executive director for strategic markets, and Michael Dick, sales exec for strategic markets, negotiated the deal on behalf of Disney.

“Extreme Makeover” follows participants who are given the chance to transform their looks with the help of plastic surgeons, cosmetic dentists, hair and makeup artists, stylists and personal trainers.

The Belgian net operates in the Flemish-speaking north of the country and is owned by SBS Broadcasting.
