Alphabet orders its first comedy pilot of the season
HOLLYWOOD — ABC’s got the hots for scribe Suzanne Martin’s sexy mom.
Alphabet web has ordered its first comedy pilot of the season, a project from Martin based on her life as the outgoing mother of a more staid teenage daughter.
The untitled sitcom, which ABC picked up as a script last September (Daily Variety, Sept. 12), comes from Warner Bros. TV. Show revolves around a sexy and single New York-based wedding planner who leads a wilder lifestyle than her kid.
Pilot was inspired by Martin’s relationship with her daughter. The writer said she came up with the concept after noticing several of her and her friends’ kids are much more conservative than their folks.
Martin (“Talk to Me,” “Ellen”), who’s based at the studio, will exec produce along with Andy Ackerman (“Seinfeld,” “Two and a Half Men”), who’s also on board to direct.
