NEW YORK — Parties and pedophilia don’t quite go together, but a lavish bash was exactly what followed last week’s Gotham preem of “The Woodsman.”
Exec producer Damon Dash hosted the Dec. 15 soiree at Club NA, where the cast schmoozed behind velvet ropes in a high-security, packed VIP section. Patti LaBelle performed for the crowd, which included pic’s Benjamin Bratt, Mos Def, helmer Nicole Kassell and producer Lee Daniels.
Newmarket topper Bob Berney alluded to “Monster” — Newmarket’s Oscar winner for Charlize Theron last year — at the mention of awards season. “I think you always want to get attention for the actors to get people to accept the story,” he said. “That attention helps release the film.”
Kevin Bacon‘s take on awards was similar, noting, “With a film like this, it feels like a lot of fun tonight, but it needs help.” He added: “I’ve never been invited to the party, and if it happens this year it’d be good. And if doesn’t happen I’ll still be an actor.”
