‘Rings’ king catches an eyeful

Admirers drawn to Mortensen, art at Photo L.A.

HOLLYWOOD — Viggo Mortensen attracted a swarm of female admirers Thursday night as he tried to get an eyeful of images displayed at Photo L.A. The “Lord of the Rings” king — and photographer — hosted the opening-night reception for the show, the West’s largest, at Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.

The show “is cool, but I’ll have to come back to look at the photos,” the multihyphenate said as he eyed the crowd around him.

Just as the “King’s” subjects continually demanded his attention, his acting career has kept him away from his writing and photography.

“I’ve been busy with promoting my movies,” he said, “but once things settle down, I’d like to get back to my writing.”

Also exhibiting an interest in art, Will Ferrell was shyly looking at the pics.

“I don’t know much about it,” the “Elf” star said. “I’m just here checkin’ things out.”
