NEW YORK — The New Directors New Films series opted to go local this year with its opening night pic, “Everyday People,” which was shot entirely in Gotham.
The HBO Films pic unspooled March 24 at venerable Alice Tully Hall.
“It’s so fancy here,” murmured indie director Jim McKay, before thanking fest organizers MOMA and the Film Society of Lincoln Center for necessitating the purchase of his first suit.
Afterward, well-wishers gathered across the street at Josefina. Among those looking equally dapper: Walter Mosley and exec producers Nelson George, Caldecott Chubb and Michael Stipe.
