Armani dresses the part

Italo celebs out for fashionista's shindig

ROME — Italian designer to the stars Giorgio Armani was joined May 5 by hundreds of followers and famous friends including countrywoman Sofia Loren at the Diocletian baths for a bash feting his 30-year anni and a retrospective exhibit of more than 500 of his creations.

The designer called his success “very gratifying, but I still have more to do,” adding that his secret to dressing the stars lies in “not taking over their personalities.”

Indeed Italo actress Maria Grazia Cucinotta told Variety that the simplicity of his clothes saved her from becoming “just another sex symbol.” Quincy Jones called him “the classiest man alive.”
