The Actors’ Fund of America bestowed a passel of tributes Saturday during its annual gala at Gotham’s Waldorf-Astoria.
Johnny Depp received the org’s Lee Strasberg artistic achievement award, while fellow thesp Angela Lansbury pocketed a lifetime achievement award. Retired MPAA head Jack Valenti presented an honor to AMPTP prexy Nicolas Counter, while the Shubert’s Gerald Schoenfeld presented the award to Thomas Short, prexy of the Intl. Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees
The org’s prexy Brian Stokes Mitchell closed out the show, which raised $1 million, with “Impossible Dream” from “Man From La Mancha.” Whoopi Goldberg, Bernadette Peters and Marty Richards also were on hand for the bash, sponsored by People magazine.
