Charles Koon, production designer for the “Lawrence Welk Show,” died of natural causes November 11 in Hollywood. He was 85.
Funeral Services be will held at The Old North Church in Forest Lawn, Hollywood, on Saturday at 2:30pm.
Born in Milwaukee, Koon started in the business with an internship at the Pasadena Playhouse, where he later taught stage design.
He became a production manager for KTTV, where he designed for “Space Patrol” and then moved to ABC, where he spent the major part of his career. In addition to the “Lawrence Welk Show,” he designed for Dick Clark’s “American Bandstand,” “General Hospital” and Don Kirshner’s “In Concert.”
He is survived by five sons and six grandchildren.
