BSkyB ups Turner Laing

Responsibilities extended to cover all Sky channels

LONDON — Sophie Turner Laing has been promoted to deputy managing director of Sky Networks, the programming arm of satcaster BSkyB.

Turner Laing, who was previously director of film channels and acquisitions, will continue to oversee those areas, but her responsibilities have been extended to cover all Sky Networks channels.

The post of deputy managing director, reporting to managing director Dawn Airey, has been vacant since the departure of Mark Sharman last November.

Turner Laing joined Sky in March 2003 after serving nearly five years in various senior posts at the BBC. Since her arrival at Sky, she has acquired high-profile U.S. shows such as “24,” “Nip/Tuck” and “Las Vegas” for Sky One, and restructured the movie channels.
