“Drumline” star Nick Cannon is marching to the beat at MTV, where the musician-thesp has sold an improv comedy series.
Music net has greenlit production on eight episodes of “Wild ‘n’ Out,” a half-hour gameshow that puts emerging comedic talent to the test in a battle of improv comedy games.
Cannon will exec produce with his manager Michael Goldman, Tony DiSanto, Andrew Hoegl and Jonathan Singer. Power Entertainment is producing.
Contestants on “Wild ‘n’ Out” will be split up into two teams — Cannon will lead one, and the other will be led by different celebrity guests who will rotate each week. Skein will be filmed in a Los Angeles comedy club still to be determined to give it an urban feel similar to that of HBO series “Def Comedy Jam.”
No show date has yet been set for the project, but it will likely be scheduled into MTV’s 10-Spot lineup, home to long-running originals “The Real World,” and “Road Rules” as well as “Newlyweds” and “The Ashlee Simpson Show.”
Cannon is no stranger to the small screen, having kick-started his career at Nickelodeon as a cast member of the “Saturday Night Live”-style series “All That” and later headlining “The Nick Cannon Show.”
Thesp last starred in “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” and is in “Shall We Dance?” He appears in upcoming pics “The Underclassman” and “Roll Bounce.”
