NEW YORK — Viacom chair-CEO Sumner Redstone on Tuesday announced several key promotions, with top communications strategist Carl Folta and chief lobbyist Carol Melton upped to exec veepees.
Also operating under the new title of exec VP are William Roskin, who oversees the conglom’s human resources division, and Martin Shea, head of investor relations.
All four are executive officers of Viacom and report directly to Redstone. They all held the previous title of senior vice president.
Folta will continue to be responsible for Viacom’s overall communications operations as well as overseeing financial press. He directs media relations for industry, regulatory, legislative and legal issues. He also manages Viacom’s corporate philanthropy and events, as well as sitting on the conglom’s marketing council.
Melton, based in Washington, is responsible for managing domestic and international policy issues facing Viacom. She’s in charge of and coordinates lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill, at the Federal Communications Commission and in the executive branch. She also supervises outside lobbyists hired by Viacom and is the prexy of Viacom’s political action committee.
