Madelyn Hammond and Craig Hitchcock have been upped to VPs at Variety and Daily Variety, exec VP-publisher Charlie Koones announced today.
Hammond also has been promoted to publisher of VLife. In her new capacity, she is responsible for overseeing advertising sales targeted toward the consumer community as well as all marketing activities. VLife, published six times annually, provides insider news and lifestyle features for the entertainment industry.
Hitchcock, who has held the title of publishing director for the past two years, is responsible for all advertising and revenue operations at Daily Variety, Variety, VLife and Variety.com.
He was instrumental in overseeing the launch of Variety China, Variety‘s first local-language overseas edition.
“Variety is extremely fortunate to have executives like Craig and Madelyn in leadership positions. These promotions are not only well deserved, they clearly position us for further growth,” Koones said.
Hammond will continue to oversee all aspects of marketing, advertising, publicity, special events and sponsorships for Variety, Daily Variety and Variety.com in addition to Broadcasting & Cable and Multi-Channel News.
Hammond, most recently associate publisher, joined Daily Variety in 1998. Before that, she was VP marketing for Sony Pictures Consumer Products and had various marketing stints at MGM/UA, AMC Theaters, Columbia Pictures and the Coca-Cola Co.
Hitchcock also oversees advertising sales for Variety.com, which has experienced double-digit growth increases over last year.
Hitchcock joined Variety in 2000 as a sales executive, focusing his efforts on television. Before Variety, Hitchcock spent five years with its sister publication Broadcasting & Cable as Western sales director.
