Fox adds 'Idol' special to Monday night
UPN will shuffle its Wednesday deck in March to make room for CGI-animated comedy “Game Over.”
Net will premiere “Game Over” Wednesday, March 10, at 8 p.m. At 8:30, UPN will run the remaining episodes of hair-centric comedy “The Mullets.”
To make room for the two sitcoms, UPN will move “Star Trek: Enterprise” to 9 p.m. Repeats of “America’s Next Top Model” currently air in the slot.
UPN execs hope to improve “Enterprise’s” fortunes by moving it back an hour. The show’s precursor, “Star Trek: Voyager,” ran in that later slot for most of its time on the air.
“Game Over,” from Carsey-Werner-Mandabach, takes a look at how videogame characters really live when they’re off duty. Show features the voices of Patrick Warburton, Lucy Liu, E.G. Daily and Rachel Dratch among others.
Meanwhile, Fox will continue to expand its “American Idol” franchise next week, throwing on another “Idol” special Monday night at 8.
“American Idol: The Road to Hollywood” will focus on the contestants who were good enough to make it to the next level of competition. Special will also provide another week of ratings juice to Monday reality entry “My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance.”
“Idol” will also air next week in its regular Tuesday slot and with another supersized hourlong Wednesday edition.
