UPN picks up six episodes of ‘Cuts’

Skein joins 'Guide,' 'Missy' as midseason entry

UPN has picked up six episodes of the “One on One” spinoff “Cuts.”

Shannon Elizabeth (“American Pie”) and singer/thesp Marques Houston topline the laffer, which was introduced last spring as an episode of the Monday night comedy.

Eunetta T. Boone, Bennie Richburg, Robert Greenblatt and David Janollari exec produced the pilot, which comes from “One on One” producers Paramount Network TV and Greenblatt-Janollari.

“Cuts” joins previously announced laffer “Bad Girl’s Guide” and reality skein “The Road to Stardom with Missy Elliott” as one of UPN’s new midseason entries.

Series, which also stars Shondrella Avery and Rashaan Nall, follows Houston’s character, who returns to Baltimore to run the family barbershop — only to discover it’s been sold to a haircare mogul. He suddenly finds himself up against the new owner’s daughter, played by Elizabeth.

Meanwhile, UPN confirmed that it has decided not to pick up the back nine episodes of frosh laffer “Second Time Around.” Net will air all 13 of the show’s segs, and said the show could still return next season.
