UPN likes its drama, picking up a full season of frosh entries “Kevin Hill” and “Veronica Mars.”
While off to slow starts, both shows have exhibited growth for the net over the first few weeks of the season — and also earned strong critical notice.
“Kevin Hill,” which critics picked as one of their favorite new skeins of the fall, has improved UPN’s Wednesday 9 p.m. performance by 89% in adults 18-34 and by 59% with viewers.
So far this season, the Taye Diggs starrer has averaged 3.7 million viewers, as well as a 1.7 rating/5 share in the net’s target adults 18-34 demo and a 2.7/7 with women 18-34.
Meanwhile, “Veronica Mars” continues to grow for UPN, posting its best-yet adults 18-49 and women numbers last week.
Season to date, “Veronica Mars” has averaged a 1.4/4 with adults 18-34, 1.7/4 among women 18-34 and 2.7 million viewers.
“Kevin Hill,” which comes from Touchstone TV and Icon Prods., stars Diggs as an attorney whose life is drastically changed when he’s forced to raise his 10-month-old niece. Bruce Davey, Alex Taub and Nancy Cotton exec produce the show, which was created by Jorge Reyes.
“Veronica Mars” stars Kristen Bell as a 17-year-old with a knack for private investigation; Warner Bros. TV produces along with Silver Pictures TV.
