Bouttier expands role at NBC U

NEW YORK — Telepictures Prods. has tapped former NBC Universal exec Brett Bouttier VP of new business and sales strategy.

In the newly created post, Bouttier will oversee Telepictures’ plans to ramp up its production of more shows for cable TV. He’ll also be in charge of getting the company into new areas such as video-on-demand, direct-to-video and brand integration.

These duties represent a big expansion of his role at NBC U, where, as VP of cable sales and strategy, his main job was to sell TV series to cable networks.

Bouttier won’t get involved in sales of Telepictures’ shows to cable, a chore handled by the domestic cable division of Warner Bros., which last year sold a same-day run of the syndicated talkshow “Ellen” to Oxygen.

Telepictures produces “The Real Gilligan’s Island,” which got off to a strong start in the Nielsens last week for TBS. The company does “Family Face Off Hollywood” for Nickelodeon and has produced “Spend It Fast” for WE and “Smashball” for Spike TV.

Bouttier, who spent all of his working life in research and sales at Universal, reports to Hilary Estey McLoughlin, exec VP and general manager of Telepictures Prods., and to Jim Paratore, prexy of Telepictures Prods. and exec VP of domestic TV distribution for Warner Bros.
