Saade, Dummer get ABC reality check

Alphabet adds pair to current programming department

ABC has beefed up its reality division, adding a pair of full-time VPs to work under exec VP Andrea Wong.

John Saade, who ankled the Alphabet in January 2003 to become an independent producer, has officially returned to his old gig as VP of alternative series and specials. In addition, Vicki Dummer– who had been splitting her time between ABC’s reality and current programming departments — will now serve full time as a VP in Wong’s division.

Wong said Saade and Dummer work well together as both execs and collaborators.

“They completely understand the ABC brand of alternative programming, have great relationships with the creative community and an amazing ability to think outside the box,” Wong said.

Saade, who helped develop “The Bachelor” and “The Mole” franchises during his last run at the net, inked a two-year production deal with ABC when he left.

During his run as a producer, he worked on skeins such as “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here” and “The Great Domestic Showdown.” He also co-wrote “The Reality TV Handbook,” a tongue-in-cheek guide to the biz.

In her new role, Dummer will remain a point exec on the two versions of “Extreme Makeover,” as well as the upcoming wedding edition of the franchise. She previously oversaw production of Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey’s two ABC specials.
