Star power met processor power at the Belasco Theater in downtown L.A. Tuesday night as vidgame industry pros and Hollywood actors joined together for an E3 pre-show sponsored by Sony’s PlayStation 2.
Rarely do these worlds come together, and it was easy to tell who came from which. Gamers were the well-dressed ones with tucked in shirts, khakis and sharply parted hair; Hollywood types were the ones with trucker hats, jeans and carefully tousled locks.
Stars in attendance included David Spade, Tara Reid, Crispin Glover and Ethan Embry. While a few took turns on the many PlayStations scattered about, most seemed more interested in the entertainment, which included Iggy Pop, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and DJ Danger Mouse.
Vidgamers, meanwhile, were mostly entranced by the plethora of scantily clad women showing off their wares in T-shirts with the Sony slogan “Do you wanna play?”
Meanwhile, at downtown’s Hotel Figueroa, sports-minded revelers toasted ESPN videogames at its bash.
