Location mavens find pact’s end

Deal came 9 months before current 3-year deal expires

Hollywood location managers have ratified a one-year extension to their deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers.

The deal, which covers about 550 location managers repped through Local 399 of the Teamsters, came nine months before the current three-year deal expires July 31.

The one-year pact included a 2.5% increase in base salaries and the same pension and health increases negotiated last summer for the first year of the three-year deal by the Basic Crafts contract that covers the 4,000 drivers repped through Local 399 and four other unions. Employer health contributions will be increased by 20¢ an hour; the pension plan hike will be 25¢ per hour.

The extension will place the termination of the location managers’ pact in line with the current three-year deal covering about 20,000 West Coast members of the Intl. Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. IATSE leaders traditionally negotiate new deals long before expiration.

The Basic Crafts contract will expire in July 2007.
