Lifetime to deliver ‘Baby’ drama

Movie slated to bow first quarter of 2005

Mercedes Ruehl, Jane Krakowski and Danielle Panabaker have signed on to star in the Lifetime original movie “Just a Baby.”

Drama is about pregnant 16-year-old Jacey (Panabaker), whose well-meaning mother (Ruehl) forces her to keep the birth a secret and decides to raise the baby as her own. Krakowski plays a guidance counselor who discovers Jacey’s secret and tries to get her to enroll in a program for pregnant and parenting teens.

Sofronski Prods. will produce in association with von Zerneck/Sertner Films. Frank von Zerneck, Robert M. Sertner and Bernie Sofronski are exec producers. Peter Werner will direct from a script by Nancey Silvers (“The Elizabeth Smart Story”).

Movie is slated to bow in the first quarter of next year.

In addition, Lifetime is teaming up with the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy to develop a PSA, online content and additional educational materials and resources to be released in conjunction with the project’s debut.
