Koondel climbs Par TV ladder

Koondel to oversee firstrun skeins, off-net library

Paramount Domestic TV has a new No. 2: Scott Koondel has been named the syndie unit’s exec VP of distribution.

As part of the promotion, Koondel will move from New York — where he had been senior VP and national sales manager for the division — to Los Angeles. He’ll continue to report to Paramount Domestic TV topper John Nogawski.

Koondel will oversee distribution for Par’s firstrun skeins, such as “Entertainment Tonight” and new entry “The Insider.” He also handles Par’s extensive off-net library, including “Cheers,” “Frasier” and “I Love Lucy,” as well as broadcast and cable sales for Paramount Motion Picture Group.

Nogawski has retooled the unit’s reporting structure: Mark Dvornik, exec VP and general sales manager, now reports directly to Koondel.

“By combining the cable and broadcast distribution operations under Scott, we will be able to maximize the sales opportunities for our entire library,” Nogawski said.

Koondel joined Par in 1993 as Eastern divisional manager; he was in his most recent position since 2001.

Before Par, Koondel was national sales manager at Tribune-owned WPIX New York.
