Lucy Liu has signed to guest in at least two upcoming episodes of NBC’s “Joey,” reuniting her with “Charlie’s Angels” love interest Matt LeBlanc.
Liu will play Lauren, a tough-talking TV exec producer for the nighttime soap where Joey recently scored a role as the father of one of the show’s main characters.
Liu started shooting her first episode — a Christmas-themed seg — this week; her appearances on the Warner Bros. TV-produced laffer are expected to air in late December and early January.
The “Joey” spot also reps one of Liu’s first on-screen TV appearances since “Ally McBeal” left the airwaves in 2002. Since then, she provided a voice on UPN’s short-lived animated laffer “Game Over,” and also guested on the animated skeins “King of the Hill” and “Futurama.”
On the feature side, in addition to both “Charlie’s Angels” films, Liu starred in both “Kill Bill Vol. 1” and “Kill Bill Vol. 2.” She also appeared in “Chicago” and “Shanghai Noon.” She’s in production on the feature “Lucky Number Slevin.”
