Inside Move: ABC may keep in ‘Practice’

Skein sees auds, renewed crix praise after tweaks

20th Century Fox TV, David Kelley Prods. and ABC are in talks to renew “The Practice” for a ninth season.

The show, which was close to being canceled just a year ago, has perked up in the ratings this season — and has earned renewed critical praise in part because of several major tweaks, including the addition of thesp James Spader.

Show also recovered following last year’s ill-fated decision to move the show to Monday nights. Back on Sunday, the show has averaged 9.1 million viewers this season.

It’s not clear how close 20th and ABC are to ironing out a new deal, and both sides declined comment.
