Fox is showing a little love to “Method & Red” while making a few tweaks to its summer sked.
Net has greenlit three additional episodes of the 20th Century Fox TV/Regency Television laffer, bringing the show’s total order to 16. Fox had previously given frosh summer laffer “Quintuplets” a full back-nine order.
Ratings for “Method & Red” started strong, faded in week two and have stabilized since.
“Method & Red” will go on hiatus for five weeks following tonight’s broadcast to make room for other programming. Previously skedded “Simple Life 2” finale airs next Wednesday, followed by the Teen Choice kudos the next week; yet-to-be announced Olympics counterprogramming; and a movie airing Sept. 1, opposite the third night of the GOP convention.
Skein returns in early September with nine original episodes in the can (including the three newly ordered segs). Fox execs have yet to order addition episodes of Monday night sudser “North Shore.”
In other scheduling news, Fox is doubling up on Mark Burnett’s “The Casino.” Skein will air on Sunday and Monday nights at 9 p.m. starting Sunday, Aug. 15 — just in time for the start of the Olympics on NBC.
“Casino” will wrap its run on Sunday, Aug. 29, freeing up Monday nights for the previously announced Aug. 30 bow of “The Complex: Malibu.”
Separately, Fox said “The Billionaire: Branson’s Quest for the Best” will make its debut Nov. 9 in a two-hour premiere.
